A ride with tea and cake

There is a  tradition in America for coffee shops. This tradition is now taken a grip in Britain the greed of a Starbucks and costa on every street corner. The expansion is driven by greed by the extrusion of the corporate companies we find it very difficult to resist this greed.

I have challenged the coffee tradition by interpreting the traditional english tea house, where a british tea house might of been quite formal i have reinvented the tea house in a more colourful and playful way, introducing a teacup ride at its heart. The project feeds on greed. With the sin greed i have added the tradition of britain and taking away the coffee and bringing back the fun with tea and cake.. I love the fun of this design , it is little crazy idea but it is a test for the sin greed. The carousel provides opportunities for the customers to take a balcony view of other sin driven activities in the arcade. The oversized cupcakes are in fact huge over sized cake dip lays to tempt customers to consume more cake.

fitness club

With the sin of pride vanity is a major issue these days. People are taking pride in their appearance to the extreme. People are willing to undertake cosmetic procedures that will change their appearance forever. Fakery is everywhere. This fitness club is an attempt to put people back to the right path of pride where you have to work to achieve a desired look.I designed the concept of the fetish club below using the power of pride enabling the lust with the added extreme of the jacuzzi being in view, the pride of people taking pride in their appearance and using this to tempt lust through the viewers below.

fetish club

this conceptual design deals with the sin lust. Rather than creating a dark and dingy bar where people play out there sins, this is a club/ shop where people go to learn about the experience and watch others engaging in all aspects of fetishes. There are various props and specialised environments available in the club which have been designed with the intention of involving a number of club visitors together. My favourite part of this design is at the rear of the club where a jacuzzi hangs down from the floor above. Here fitness club visitors using the jacuzzi will be on view  for the whole fetish club to admire. So the sin pride used in the fitness club is plays upon the emotions of the fetish club visitors who lust over the bodies on show.

A new meaning for the title birdcage

The idea for this section of the arcade feeds on gluttony as my inspiration.Rather than seeing the bad side of gluttony the interior presents a surreal world in a converted two story space which plays on the idea of gluttony being a virtue rather than a sin.

At the entrance of the store there will be a large birdcage where a model will pose in a lavishly decorated outfit, fabulous and showy like a peacock attracting attention.

The floor space is a shopping area where healthy foods such as fresh fruits, yoghurts, hones are available and can be blended in a central space. The volume is filled with large trees that create containers for the fruit which customers to pick and make custom made smoothies. Customers can then sit in birdcage seats. The idea is aesthetically  beautiful environment thats deals with aspects of fantasy and elusion.

A take on wonderland and the seven sins

Researching the seven sins and alice in wonderland i came across these images other artists have produced with their own take on the theme.

Down the rabbit hole

I love alice in wonderland and all its mystery.. in my search i found some photography that people have done for alice in wonderland themes to inspire me for my project,i believe the sins and alice in wonderland fit together. To create the most fun unusual design.

sins and virtues

sin/pride -opposing virtue/humility -Seeing ourselves as we are and not comparing ourselves to others is humility. Pride and vanity are competitive. If someone else’s pride really bothers you, you have a lot of pride. colour violet – punishment – broken on the wheel

sin/greed – opposing virtue/generosity -This is about more than money. Generosity means letting others get the credit or praise. It is giving without having expectations of the other person. Greed wants to get its “fair share” or a bit more.colour – yellow -punishment – put in cauldrons of boiling oil

sin/envy – opposing virtue/love -“Love is patient, love is kind…” Love actively seeks the good of others for their sake. Envy resents the good others receive or even might receive. Envy is almost indistinguishable from pride at times.colour green – punishment – put in freezing water

sin/wrath – opposing virtue/kindness -Kindness means taking the tender approach, with patience and compassion. Anger is often our first reaction to the problems of others. Impatience with the faults of others is related to this.colour red – punishment – dismembered alive

sin/lust – opposing virtue/self control -Self control and self mastery prevent pleasure from killing the soul by suffocation. Legitimate pleasures are controlled in the same way an athlete’s muscles are: for maximum efficiency without damage. Lust is the self-destructive drive for pleasure out of proportion to its worth. Sex, power, or image can be used well, but they tend to go out of control.colour blue – punishment smothered in fire and brimstone

sin/gluttony – opposing virtue/faith and temperance -Temperance accepts the natural limits of pleasures and preserves this natural balance. This does not pertain only to food, but to entertainment and other legitimate goods, and even the company of others. colour orange – punishment forced to eat rats, toads and snakes

sin/sloth – opposing virtue/zeal -Zeal is the energetic response of the heart to God’s commands. The other sins work together to deaden the spiritual senses so we first become slow to respond to God and then drift completely into the sleep of complacency.colour light blue – punishment thrown in snakes pit.
